When your team needs this training
This training is suitable when your company is preparing its first GHG inventory, improving previous emissions numbers, responding to customer or HQ data requests, or starting to address Scope 3 emissions.
It is especially relevant when internal teams are unsure what data is needed, who owns the data, how emissions are calculated, or how assumptions and evidence should be documented.
Is this the right service?
| Choose GHG Accounting Training if… | Choose GHG Accounting & Scope 3 Support if… |
|---|---|
| Your team needs to understand GHG boundaries, data, emission factors, Scope 3 and assumptions | You need SuSciCo to prepare the actual GHG inventory, workbook and evidence pack |
| ESG, finance, operations, procurement or HR teams need alignment | You need emissions data for ESG reporting, customer requests, HQ reporting or internal review |
| You want a practical workshop using examples, templates and exercises | You need a formal GHG inventory report and calculation workbook |
What your team will learn
Participants will learn how to:
- define organisational and operational boundaries;
- identify Scope 1, Scope 2 and selected Scope 3 emission sources;
- collect activity data from finance, operations, procurement, HR and logistics teams;
- apply emission factors and unit conversions;
- understand basic calculation logic for organisational GHG inventories;
- identify common Scope 3 categories and data gaps;
- document assumptions, exclusions and limitations;
- prepare evidence records for internal, customer, auditor or verifier questions;
- connect GHG emissions data to ESG reporting and management review.
Scope covered in the training
Scope 1 emissions
Participants learn how to identify direct emissions from company-controlled sources, including stationary combustion, mobile combustion, refrigerant leakage and relevant process emissions.
Scope 2 emissions
Participants learn how to account for emissions from purchased electricity, including electricity data, grid emission factors, reporting periods and renewable energy claim limitations where relevant.
Scope 3 emissions
Participants learn how to screen and prioritise selected Scope 3 categories based on relevance, data availability, buyer pressure and reporting purpose.
Common training examples may include purchased goods and services, fuel- and energy-related activities, transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, business travel, employee commuting, and product-use or end-of-life categories where relevant.
This is not generic climate awareness training
This is not a general sustainability, climate change, carbon neutrality, offsetting or ESG awareness course.
It is a practical GHG accounting workshop for teams that need to understand how organisational emissions inventories are built, reviewed and supported.
The workshop focuses on boundaries, activity data, emission factors, Scope 3 relevance, calculation logic, evidence trails, assumptions, limitations and review questions.
Practical exercises and materials
Depending on the selected format, participants may work with:
| Training material | Purpose |
|---|---|
| GHG data request template | Shows what data is needed and who should provide it |
| Sample calculation workbook | Demonstrates activity data, formulas and emission factor use |
| Emission factor example table | Helps participants understand factor sources, units and applicability |
| Scope 3 screening exercise | Helps teams identify relevant categories and data gaps |
| Assumptions and limitations template | Shows how estimates, exclusions and uncertainty should be documented |
| Evidence checklist | Helps teams prepare records for internal, customer or verifier questions |
How this connects to GHG Accounting & Scope 3 Support
Some companies need training before starting a GHG inventory. Others need both training and technical support.
| If your team needs capability | If your company needs the inventory prepared |
|---|---|
| Start with GHG Accounting Training | Use GHG Accounting & Scope 3 Support |
| Build internal understanding of data, boundaries and Scope 3 | Receive a GHG inventory report, workbook and evidence pack |
| Prepare data owners before the inventory process | Prepare emissions data for ESG reporting, customer requests or HQ reporting |

Why SuSciCoSuSciCo’s GHG training is based on practical project experience, not generic climate slides.
| Strength | What it means |
|---|---|
| Practical | Uses examples from operational, utility, procurement, logistics and HR data |
| Malaysia-relevant | Designed for Malaysian companies preparing ESG, customer or HQ emissions data |
| Scope 3-aware | Helps teams understand where Scope 3 data is difficult, estimated or incomplete |
| Workbook-based | Uses practical calculation logic instead of abstract theory only |
| Evidence-focused | Shows how assumptions, records, gaps and limitations should be documented |
| Review-question prepared | Helps teams understand what customers, auditors or verifiers may ask |
SuSciCo has supported ESG and GHG-related work across manufacturing, recycling, waste recovery, automotive parts, construction, plantation, aviation recycling waste and other Malaysian business contexts. The training uses practical lessons from implementation, not generic awareness material.
What this training does not include
This training does not provide a completed organisational GHG inventory, statutory assurance, third-party verification, certification, carbon credit registration, offsetting, SBTi target validation, ESG rating submission management or guaranteed acceptance by auditors, buyers, regulators or rating platforms.
Where your company requires an actual GHG inventory report, calculation workbook, evidence pack or Scope 3 quantification, this should be scoped separately as a GHG Accounting & Scope 3 Support engagement.
This is important because the training page must not imply that the workshop produces a formal GHG inventory.
What we need to prepare the training
You do not need a completed GHG inventory before requesting training.
For the first discussion, we need to understand your industry, team roles, reporting purpose, current GHG maturity, whether Scope 3 is required, and whether the training should focus on ESG reporting, customer data requests, HQ reporting or internal capability-building.
